Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Polixis is a leading Swiss company providing specialized research and consultancy on Political, Country, Compliance and Regulatory risks in emerging markets to a client base drawn mainly from Banking, Financial and Risk Management industries.
Position and Location
We are looking for an experienced specialist to head our Russia & CIS team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for a team of 10 analysts and consultants covering the region. This position provides an opportunity to join a growing team and business. The position may evolve into a Chief Operating Officer position for all market areas (MENA and other product lines).
The position will be based in Geneva, Switzerland. Given our growing portfolio of clients in other financial centers, application from London, Luxembourg, Moscow, UAE and Singapore will be considered.
Tasks
The chosen candidate will be expected to participate in the areas of research, product development and marketing.
The research duties will include the following: Coordination, processing and editing of weekly research coming from local country based analysts; Writing of analytical notes and research on political, regulatory, sanction and other risk related topics covering the CIS; Reviewing research for publication and overseeing weekly publication processes.
Managerial and operational duties will include the following:
Coordination of a portfolio of banking and finance sector clients, and pro-active assistance in their day-to-day needs; Allocation of adequate team resources in managing clients’ demands.
Participation in the design of new product lines and the improvement of existing ones; Representation of the company during industry events; Occasional press interviews representing the company’s view on issues of politics, sanctions and regulatory risk- related issues relevant to the region.
Your profile
Experience within the banking and/or finance environment. A good understanding of the fundamentals and functioning of Risk & Compliance, Asset Management, Private Banking and Commodity Trade Finance is a defi-nite asset.
Experience in research and writing in the area of political and regulatory risk assessments as applied to the private sector.
Excellent writing skills and experience writing articles in the field of political science (in English). Knowledge of Adobe Indesign publishing software is an asset.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English is essential for this position.
Good knowledge of Russian is key for the position. Excellent reading and research skills in Russian is manda-tory. Knowledge of other regional languages such as Armenian, Azeri (Turkish), Kazakh or Georgian is an asset.
Education
MA and/or PhD in Political Science, Law, International Relations, or Journalism. Any other educational back-ground may be considered in combination with relevant professional experience in political risk, research and compliance functions within the banking industry.
