The historic Stonequarry Cemetery in Taralga has an adjacent reserve with remnant native flora surrounded by cultivated farmland. The site contains unmarked graves of significance.
Type of Work: Bush regeneration, record and photograph native flora, create a herbarium. Revitalise interest in the cemetery and act as an educational resource. Local people will work alongside international volunteers. An expert on native grasses will be part of the team and other experts will be consulted on various aspects of the work.
Study Theme: Environmental protection, creation of wildlife corridors and cultural heritage. Funding has been provided by the Office of Environment and Heritage through the Greater Eastern Ranges Initiative. This is a joint project between IVP and Friends of Grasslands under the guidance of the Stonequarry Cemetery committee.
