Description

Each year the EUROPARC Federation, with support from the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S., awards three Alfred Toepfer Natural Heritage Scholarships to promising young conservationists, who are committed to working for the benefit of Protected Areas. The aim of the scholarships is to enhance international cooperation and to advance the quality, innovation and European dimension of Protected Area management.

Eligibility

Target Group Participation in the Alfred Toepfer Scholarship programme is open to: persons who are employed by a European protected area or a nature conversation institution and students and graduates of higher educational institutions, studying an environmentally relevant topic related to protected area management.
The Eligibility / Application requirements are as follows:
  • The age limit at the time of application is 35.
  • European Nationality.
  • Proof of relevant contacts with target protected area established at the time of application.
Applicants of Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary,  Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United Kingdom are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

Funding

The awards will each be worth EUR 3.000 and are generously donated by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. in Hamburg (Germany).

How to apply

Applications should be send via e-mail. A completed application consists of the following materials, all of which must be filled in electronically in English language and submitted at EUROPARC Federation Headquarters.
  • Application form including i) Personal Statement – Motivation letter (max. 1 page)
  • Proposed programme of study visit including contact details of protected area you want to visit
  • CV (max. 3 pages) – EU format (Europass)
  • Letter of reference.
