Carleton College via Robert E. Will ’50 Endowed Internship Fund is offering internship in Social Entrepreneurship. This fund supports internships with organizations engaged in social enterprise. Internships may include but should not be limited to experiences in clean energy, agriculture, the environment, health care, job creation and mobile commerce, financing and transportation systems. It is a paid internship program. Grants are intended for students to fund internships during summer break or during an academic term. The internship duration must be a minimum of 10 (ten) weeks. Non-senior students in any discipline are eligible. Seniors are not eligible. All applicants must be in good academic standing.
Field of Internship: Internships may include but should not be limited to experiences in clean energy, agriculture, the environment, health care, job creation, and mobile commerce, financing, and transportation systems. It is the hope that this fund will help students understand the complex political, economic, social, and/or cultural forces associated with the shift from government aid/welfare support to developing the infrastructure to support market-based approaches to sustainable development practices.

Is this paid internship? Yes, The grants may cover expenses such as application fees, program fees, and transportation to and from the site, lodging and meals during the internships for a total grant not to exceed $5,000. A stipend to cover partial lost wages from a summer job ($2,000 maximum) may be available for students on need-based financial aid. Together, internship costs plus lost summer wages cannot exceed the $5000 limit. Award amount will be at the discretion of the selection committee. The grant will be paid in two installments. A portion will be paid at the beginning of the internship and the balance will be paid at completion of the Bring Back Session during the Fall term.
Internship Description: Carleton College gratefully acknowledges the establishment of The Robert E. Will ’50 Endowed Internship Fund in Social Entrepreneurship. The fund honors retired Carleton Economics faculty member Bob Will ’50 P82 P85 W70, the Raymond Plank Professor of Incentive Economics, Emeritus, and his many contributions to teaching generations of students the economics of developing countries. The Will Fund is intended to support expenses associated with internships in the United States or countries that have developing, underdeveloped, or impoverished economies and that incorporate the principles of social entrepreneurship as part of the internship’s focus.
