At CNBC, interns are offered the chance to gain hands-on practical experience of various behind-the-camera tasks involved in putting together CNBC's output from London. The internship will allow candidates to learn much about the workings of a dynamic news team and gain exposure to and knowledge of one of the world's leading financial markets.
The intern will pick up valuable technical skills including how to work in a content management system and use Reuters applications/access data.
He or she will also have the opportunity to be published on CNBC.com, write short stories aimed at investors or longer features. They will receive feedback and will learn how to write succinctly, using punchy headlines.
They will produce wire copy/news stories in our content management system, incorporating video, story links, slide shows, graphics.
Requirements:
- Students will have completed, or be about to complete, a degree in media, business or related
- Have a sound grip of business terminology
- Have a knowledge of and interest in financial markets and business journalism
- Have an ability to work under deadline in a busy news environment and prioritise tasks appropriately
- Be available for a six-month internship
Interviews will take place in August and September and the successful candidate will start in October 2014.
